HTML-KIT is a real expert tool, to download and install. A clean, free and
professional HTML editor for coding in source mode. HTML-KIT was formerly developed for the Windows

ComputerHope, the project "free computer help for everyone", is a great
source for a developer. The computerHope website offers technical support in various ways: a
computing dictionary, an hardware and a drivers section, some interesting downloads. At our
opinion, the main interest of the website for the developer community is an accurate section on DOS
and another on the various versions of Windows. This website also offers free technical
support.
Sitemap generator: AuditMyPc, a vulnerability assessment and security information site,
provides two free online sitemap generators, "Google sitemap generator" for the Google sitemap and
"Site maps" for Yahoo. To use these free generators, you need to have Java installed and a browser
which is allowed to run it. Very handy tools that enable customisation and saving in various
formats.
Sitemap validator: Smart-it consulting offers a Free online Google SiteMap XML Validator
and Submitter, as well as a faq and other resources relating to the Google sitemap generation and
submission. To use the validator, simply enter the URL of your Google Sitemap.
Font perception: this report, prepared by Michael L Bernard, the Software
Usability Research Lab Dept of Psychology Wichita State University Wichita, Kansas USA, is about
designing for usability. More precisely, this part tells us how common Web fonts are perceived by
the reader.
Convert query: You may or may not have noticed that AlltheWeb offers a simple
conversion calculator. The conversion calculator includes the abbrevation and unit name and support
a query for conversion to their database.
Show headers: This clean tool shows you the HTTP headers returned by the server. Simply
input the URL of the page. We owe this tool to pgl.yoyo.org, a Czech website, which offers other
interesting bits of coding.
Free online Cron generator: This Webmaster toolkit script will generate for you the cron
file online, to upload to your server, as soon as you enter the path of the program to execute
periodically.
Opera Browser for Desktop: The Opera 9 browser is developer friendly. Yes, you can
validate the HTML of any Web page by pressing Ctrl+Alt+V. Opera supports SVG images. Graphics and
style sheets can be toggled on - off via the toolbars and shortcuts. You can display a page in
small-screen mode, by pressing Shift+F11, to see how it would look on a mobile phone. You can
modify the source of a local page in real time. Opera lets you write your own notes. You may
configure the preferences by website. The error console reports errors for both Javascript and CSS.
The Opera Developer Console includes DOM inspector, JavaScript inspector, CSS editor and
HTTP header inspector.
Spellweb, a good idea: Not sure which spelling is right. Use spellweb. It isn't a spell
checker; it calls search engines to bring the most commonly used spelling of a word or
expression.
Spellcheck: A spellchecker provided by MotionNet.com USA, an engineering directory.
Shall you need it, enter your text in the Spellcheck interface for a US English spell check,
character and word count. You get back the verification with proposals for replacement as needed.

Spell Checker: For spellchecking online in multiple languages,
including French, German, russian and more, try the online Spell Checker, developed by Smart Link
Corporation USA, developer and publisher of multilingual software. They also provide an online
translator. The first access to the web site is sometimes slow but the spell checker is speed and
efficient.
The Websters online, an online dictionary of modern language, with Multilingual
Thesaurus Translation based on updated definitions of the Webster’s classic 1913 unabridged
dictionary
Hyper Dictionary: an online dictionary offering an English dictionary, a computer
dictionary and a medical dictionary. Gives the word definition and linked related terms.
Yahoo Translation Tool: Yahoo automated translation online interface offers a smart
choice of languages, both for source and target language. A good tool.
Word Reference online dictionaries: Word Reference is an on-line tool that provides word
translation. It also provides the contextual use of the word searched. This, for pairs belonging to
five languages : English, French, Italian, spanish, Portuguese. The on-line search provided may
speed up the translation.
Keyword Map "browse Keyword Map of the Internet": is an interesting on-line tool which
generate a meaningful map. It includes English and Spanish expressions. May be useful to suggest
words and expressions.
XE currencies: Not sure what the exchange rate is. Try XE.COM, a Canadian website. XE
also offers a universal currency converter; and Currency Services for Webmasters, in particular a
Shopper's Currency Converter. You will find those services very helpfull.
Free Internet Traffic Report: The Internet Traffic Report monitors the flow of data
around the world. It then displays a value between zero and 100. Higher values indicate faster and
more reliable connections. It is freely available. You can include the current Global Traffic Index
gif in your web page, but all other data on this web site is proprietary and can not be republished
without permission from the site operators.
The FreeCenter: offers some good leads, in particular for free Javascript and free cgi
scripting. You can also find free fonts or free music leads. Some promotion links are interesting
as well.
Load test: Performance tune up analysis free tool. It's all about load speed. A usefull
tool provided by Website Optimization, LLC, a US consulting firm. Enter a URL to calculate page
size, composition, and download time. The script calculates the size of individual elements and
sums up each type of web page component.
Robots.txt validator: a robots.txt file checker provided by Motoricerca, a non profit
Italian SEO organisation. Insert the URL of the file and your robots.txt file and the checker will
validate it, showing eventual errors.
Spam detector: another clean tool provided by Motoricerca (see above). This tool is
intended for the detection of HTML or META practices that could be considered as SPAM by search
engines: invisible text, keyword stuffing, dorway farm.

Word density: one more tool provided by Motoricerca (see above). An accurate and
powerful word density calculator. Input the URl, check if you want the TITLE and KEYWORDS meta tags
included in the verification and you get a smart report for the page.
Optimisation: i-Meta manager free online is provided by i.S.k.i.v. Ltd. It help analyse
the words and word-frequency of your page and optimise the TITLE, DESCRIPTION and KEYWORDS meta
tags, as well as the page wording. Some optimisation help is provided with the online tool.
The SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool interesting features are: Cross References various
available sources. Enables getting more information and Related Search Results. Google Semantically
Related Phrases. Links to other sources. Regional Search. Volume Estimates. Bid Prices. A cool

WordTracker free trial: the WordTracker database and tools provide a way to search for
keyword popularity and to check the competition. The renewable free trial gives you the opportunity

Alexa: one of the largest Web crawls. Alexa web services are integrated with Amazon web
service platform. Alexa offers a free toolbar which may be helpful for IE users, as well as details
and traffic ranking about the websites crawled. It is worth taking the time to feed with the site
owner information, thumbnail and related links. Input the URL in the search box, click Site Info or
Traffic Details. As needed, use correct errors at the bottom of the page, you will reach the Site
Information Editor where you can manage your data.
Selfpromotion: a search engines and directory online submission service and portal. It
is free to use for one month. For a continuous use, webmasters will pay a very small amount and may
manage multiple website dossiers and keep track of each submission date. A good tool including
advice for promotion and a wise collection of commented search engines and directories, as well as
popularity tools.
SE Management: for an automated search engine management, our own software choice is IBP
Software. IBP is developed by Axandra/Voget Selbach Enterprises GmbH, a German company. The free
version is powerfull, fully functional and let you try, understand and use all the necessary

Free submit: Free Web Submission is a source for free manual submission to search engine
and directories. It is provided by GreenWave Online. The main page offers a link to each portal,
together with a box for submitting.
Free submit FR, "Soumission-manuelle.com" is a French speaking world free manual
submission and checking tool. Input the url, measure the presence in the main engines, engine by
engine, then submit or re-submit as necessary. You may use it for French speaking or English

webuildpages.com offers an interesting set of tools, mainly dedicated to link analysis.
In particular, The "Internal Link Title Tag Tool" spiders a URL and displays the title tags of up
to 500 internal pages. The "Top competitors" shows the top competitors for a given keyword in
Google, Yahoo and MSN. And many more spider tools that may be helpful for the follow up of the
results of your efforts.
Firefox Browser: The Firefox browser 2 is SEO friendly. Yes, Open the tools menu and
choose Add-ons. At the bottom right of the small window, click Get Extensions. Apart from many
Search engines and dictionaries, there are at least two interesting add-ons for SEO: The first one
is the RankQuest toolbar. The second one is the Search Status. With these comprehensive tools, you
